SYMPHONY

Obsession Symphony is made from a wine grape crossing of Grenache Gris and Muscat of Alexandria and was developed in 1948 by UC Davis professor, Dr. Harold Olmo. 

The Kautz Family has the most significant plantings of this unique and seductive variety. Captivating aromas of gardenia, honeysuckle and star jasmine lead to remarkably full flavors … passion fruit, pineapple, lychee, peaches, ginger … slightly fruity, not cloying, nicely acidic … time for another sip! Seared sea scallops, gooey triple cream or savory bleu cheeses, spicy cuisine – vindaloo and pad Thai come to mind – are unbelievable pairings. On its own, Obsession Symphony is an ideal aperitif.

 

ROSÉ

Obsession Rosé aromas are abundant with tantalizing strawberries, white peaches and white flowers. The flavors continue with watermelon, honeysuckle and strawberries that are mouth filling, rich and full of a juiciness that finishes with good crisp acidity. 

Obsession Rosé is an amazing aperitif and a party sipper! Ideal with soft cheeses, such as brie and even smoked gouda. A summer veggie skewer from the BBQ or baked chicken, roasted salmon and a crispy duck confit are also lovely pairings.

RED BLEND

Obsession Red Blend is synergy in a bottle – a careful selection of only the best black-skinned fruit from the Kautz Family’s estate vineyards in Lodi and the Sierra foothills, two distinct terroirs that make beautiful wine together. Lodi’s sandy loam soils and Mediterranean climate afford earthy characteristics while the volcanic soils in the Sierra foothills impart minerality and spice.

Aged in French oak prior to bottling, Obsession Red Blend has incredible notes of black and blue fruit, baking spices, mint, chocolate and vanilla wrapped in velvety tannins. Full-bodied and rich, a perfect steak lover’s wine or the right call for wild mushroom risotto, truffle fries or a cheeseburger smothered with caramelized onions and bacon.

The low alcohol and the sweetness of the fruit is balanced with higher acidity and increased carbonation for flavor and texture. Only 111 calories per 5 oz. serving.

The Details

+ How is the fruit-infused collection made?

Symphony fruit infused wines are crafted by our Winemaking team utilizing three key components. First, Symphony, a unique white grape is harvested from our family owned vineyards. Next, natural fruit is sourced from the highest quality local farms for each product. Finally, the blend is created and crisp, refreshing sparkling water is added to achieve the desired level of “spritz”. Our unique creation brings out the best flavors of each component creating a well-balanced, fruity lightly sparkling wine.

+ What does “infused” mean?

Our Winemaking team uses a specially designed paddle within small stainless-steel tanks to delicately blend the Symphony with the natural fruit flavors.

+ Where is the fruit sourced?

Our California based supplier specializes in natural fruit products. They have dedicated farmers / growers that produce the best fruit for each product and ensure the highest quality for harvest each year. Our family has been dedicated to farming since 1948, our crops have included grapes, apples, cherries, almonds, tomatoes and corn. We understand how important consistent farming is for our brands, our community and our environment.

+ Are these products gluten free?

Yes, these products are derived from all-natural fruits that are classified gluten free.

+ Are these products certified?

The Kautz family is certified through the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance for their vineyards and wineries based in the Lodi and Sierra Foothills appellations.

+ Why Apple, Peach and Mango?

Our Winemaking team tested over 30 flavors to find the perfect match for our Symphony wine. Local apples and peaches, beaming with ripeness straight from the orchard were the inspiration for the Symphony-Apple and Symphony-Peach. Mango, with its tropical rich and vibrant profile matched incredibly well with our floral and aromatic Symphony wine making it a natural part of the family.
